Are you doing SEO to generate traffic, leads, and sign-ups for your home based business?

SEO is one of the most powerful marketing strategies and provides the most leverage.

Jerry titled his presentation SEO Mind Crimes. SEO mind crimes are “sacred cows” that Google (and other gurus) try to perpetuate but aren’t completely true.

Jerry West is Ray and Ferny’s “go-to” SEO guy. This was a top secret presentation and Jerry wasn’t even featured on the bill. He was only referred to as “Mr. X”.

Ray and Ferny are the network marketing/home based business SEO specialists and the creators of No Excuses Summit, SEO Networker, and Traffic Cipher.

Jerry has over 800 websites in various niches resulting in millions of dollar per year and, if I remember right, has about 15 years experience with SEO. His talk was about various things that Google wants you to believe is true in regards to SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s more nerdy and technical than it sounds. All SEO is is what you DO to article to get it to rank on Google where it gets found by people searching for a solution to their problem. Preferably on the first page of Google. Even more preferably in the top 3 spots on the first page.

  1. SEO is dead
  2. Unique and compelling content. Ha!
  3. Link Network (big reg flag)
  4. You need QR codes – FALSE
  5. Think “Outside The Box” doesn’t work

1. SEO is NOT dead. Google and other top SEO guys want you to believe that it’s dead but it’s not. Yes they will update the algorithm and mix things up but it is not dead. What this actually does is knock out some of your competition because they get frustrated because they lost some/most/all of their rankings.

2. Google says to create unique and compelling content and the search engines will find your article and rank you if you’re good. Yeah right! Jerry said this is farthest from the truth because they tested this. They created great content and without back links and on page SEO they could not get it to rank.

3. Link networks are big red flags. Try to stay away from them but Google doesn’t know about all of them. The Panda update killed about 40% of the link networks which is a lot but it still leaves about 60% out there and that’s a lot. Tread lightly with link networks and be aware that if it gets de-indexed your site is gone off of the first page.

4. You DO NOT need QR codes! This is another thing that Jerry has seen being perpetuated. I thought it was ridiculous too when I first saw this idea. It’s cool for offline marketing but having QR codes will not help your search rankings.

5. Think “Outside The Box” is similar to the unique and compelling content mind crimes where Google is perpetuating to think outside the box to rank well. Not true says Jerry West. It STILL comes down to getting the most back links to your articles you want to rank, having a great title that people want to click on, getting various links from various quality sites (.edu sites) and ultimately the most back links. Jerry knows as he’s tested hundreds of pages and what works and what doesn’t work.

SEO is NOT Dead, It’s Alive and Well

Contrary to what people say whenever Google updates their algorithm, SEO is not dead. Google’s job is to give the person surfing the web the BEST user experience. Provide valuable content, get back links, and share it with the world.

Roll with the punches.

Google Panda this and Google Penguin that. Learn what changed to get high rankings and keep pushing forward.

Whenever the big G updates its algorithm and causes people to throw in the towel and quit SEO just thank Google for taking out some of your competition :)
